Los Pumas 7 se enfrentan al final de la Serie Mundial de Sevens con muy buenas pretensiones -- The Pumas 7 face the end of the World Sevens Series with very good pretensions
Los Pumas 7s, entrenados por el porteño Santiago Gómez Cora y el tucumano Leonardo Gravano enfrentan con pretensiones la recta final del Circuito Mundial de Seven 2017/2018 a partir de mañana cuando debuten en el Seven de Londres y luego en el cierre al Seven de París el sábado 9 de junio.
La escuadra que tiene como capitán al cordobés Gastón Revol (La Tablada), cuenta con la jerarquía y la probada experiencia de otros cordobeses como Lautaro Bazán Vélez (Córdoba Athletic), Conrado Roura (Palermo Bajo) , Germán Schulz (Tala RC) y Luciano González Rizzoni (La Tablada).
Tras el Seven de Singapur (28 y 29 de abril), donde el equipo terminó en el último lugar, los Pumas 7s. se presentan en éstas dos últimas etapas con jugadores de renombre para remontar la actual séptima posición por detrás de Fidji, Sudáfrica, Nueva Zelanda, Australia, Estados Unidos y Kenia.
Completan, el plantel los porteños Matías Osadzuck (SITAS), Santiago Álvarez (Atlético San Isidro), Franco Sábato (Alumni), Rodrigo Etchart (San Isidro Club), Santiago Mare(Regatas), Marcos Moroni (Universitario BA) y Julián Domínguez (Pucará) y el entrerriano Juan Rosas Paz (Estudiantes de Paraná). Argentina 7s en Londres, debutará en el Grupo A ante Fidji a las 07:20 (hora argentina), luego a Nueva Zelanda a las 10:04 y finalmente a Escocia a las 13:10 en el final de la primera jornada clasificatoria a los cuartos por la copa de oro.
En tal sentido Gómez Cora manifestó: “Para Londres está un equipo que tuvo descanso, tras haber probado a varios jugadores en Seven de Singapur. En el grupo A se jugará contra los mejores, más allá de que se prefiera enfrentarlos en otra instancia’’. “Siempre es bueno el regreso de jugadores de jerarquía y experiencia. Hoy la experiencia tiene un papel fundamental por sobre el talento y es bueno que podamos contar con ellos.”, puso de relieve el porteño Santiago Gómez Cora.
Los Pumas 7s estaban cuartos antes de Singapur, y se derrumbaron al séptimo escalón de la tabla general, por lo que intentarán con un equipo competitivo, remontar la tabla general en una temporada donde llegaron a dos finales de la Copa de Oro en los torneos de Ciudad del Cabo y Las Vegas. Sobre el Mundial de San Francisco en julio, Gómez Cora sentenció: “Con estos dos torneos se empieza a consolidar el grupo que va al mundial. Hicimos una apuesta fuerte para que algunos tuvieran descanso en la etapa del Seven de Singapur, y llegar de la mejor forma con equipo con grandes jugadores”.
